Construit à l'initiative du
Lieutenant Georges BERTRAND et de François GIRONA, anciens du
CORPS FRANC DU SIDOBRE et inauguré le 10 mai 1980 par le maire du RIALET, M.
Bernard RAYNAUD .
Le projet est l'œuvre de Jean
CABROL, Architecte à CASTRES. Le granit et le façonnage ont été fournis
gracieusement par Alfred BONNAFOUS à Castres. Le Transport offert
gracieusement par les Ets MAFFRE et les Ets MARTY à LACROUZETTE. La mise en
place a été réalisée par les Ets PISTRE au Pont de l'Arn.
Ce monument de 3m de haut a été
découpé dans 2 plaques de granit du SIDOBRE de 35 cm d'épaisseur. Son
poids est de 5 tonnes.
Au dos du Mémorial, 2 plaques en
métal gravé retracent l’historique du CORPS FRANC DU SIDOBRE et le déroulement
du COMBAT du RIALET.
Chaque année, en Avril/Mai une cérémonie du souvenir avec les autorités civiles et militaires est organisée par l'Amicale des Anciens du CORPS FRANC DU SIDOBRE.
Memorial at Le Rialet
The project to build the memorial at Le Rialet was initiated by Lieutenant Georges BERTRAND and François GIRONA, veterans of the CORPS FRANC du SIDOBRE. It was inaugurated 10 May 1980 by the mayor of Le Rialet M. Bernard RAYNAUD.
The design is the work of Jean CABROL, architect in Castres. The granite and the construction work were furnished graciously by Alfred BONNAFOUS in Castres. Transport was graciously provided by the MAFFRE organization and the MARTY organization in Lacrouzette. The placement of the monument was carried out by the PISTRE works in Pont de l’Arn.
The monument is 3 meters high. It is cut into two thick plates of Sidobre granite 35 centimeters thick. The granite weights 5 metric tons. On the back of the memorial two engraved metal plates trace the history of the CORPS FRANC du SIDOBRE and the course of the combat at Le Rialet.
Each year in May or June a “ceremony of remembrance” takes place here with civil and military authorities. It is organized by the Souvenir Français together with veterans of the CORPS FRANC du SIDOBRE.
